Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Your music stays private. Love It does not sell your data or track you across apps and websites. We use TelemetryDeck to understand basic app usage, feature choices and technical problems. Your songs and music library are never included in these analytics.

This policy covers Love It for macOS, made by Matt Spear.

What Love It Stores on Your Device

Your preferences, keyboard shortcut and songs-loved count are stored locally on your Mac. Love It does not require an account or keep a copy of your music library on our servers.

Access to Music

With your permission, Love It reads the current song's title, artist, identifier and favourite status to display it and update its favourite status when you ask. These details are processed on your Mac. Changes may sync through Music according to your Apple account settings; that syncing is handled by Apple.

You can revoke access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation. Love It needs this access to change favourites.

Analytics

We use TelemetryDeck for privacy-friendly analytics. This helps us understand whether Love It is useful and reliable, and which macOS versions and features to support.

Analytics include:

• A hashed identifier used to count app usage, not linked to your name or email.
• Basic session and system information, such as app version, macOS version, device type and language.
• Successful favourite and unfavourite actions, and whether they came from the menu bar icon, menu or keyboard shortcut.
• Broad error categories, such as Music access being denied.
• Onboarding completion and preference choices, such as heart or star and click behaviour.
• The shortcut combination you save in Love It, to help us understand useful shortcut choices. This records the saved setting only, not typed text or general keyboard activity.

We do not send song titles, artists, track identifiers, library contents, the saved songs-loved count or raw error messages to TelemetryDeck. We do not use advertising identifiers or combine these analytics with personal information.

TelemetryDeck states that it does not store IP addresses. It does not currently promise a fixed deletion period for analytics events. Read its privacy FAQ and privacy policy for details.

Support Emails

If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include. We use this to respond and resolve your request, retaining correspondence as needed for support. It is not added to app analytics. Contact us if you would like your support correspondence deleted.

If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
